The dark night sky was pierced by the lights of this small city. Carr headlights, streetlights, random businesses opened in this late winter evening.
Zack drove nervously towards the mall. Just moments before he said goodbye to his wife. “I’m going to the movies with some friends from work, I’ll see you later tonight!” he had said cheerily. She had seemingly barely noticed, but said “Bye” as he headed out the door.
Now he was alone. Headed towards the mall. He slowed in traffic, stopping at a traffic light. He fumbled his phone, checking the last few messages.
>See you at 7? Near the theater?
>Yes! I can’t wait!
> :)
His heart skipped a nervous beat, he was jittery from both excitement and horror. The light turned green.
He arrived, walking in on the upper level of the mall. Just through the doors and to the left, is the theater. An AMC that would be packed if it were the weekend… It was not. It’s a Tuesday night. Approximately 6:53pm.
*What if she’s not here? What if she got cold feet? What if she changes her mind? What if – – – *
