I’m a 72 year old retired widower now living in a retirement village and having the time of my life. What goes on is not what you would expect your grandfather or grandmother to get up to. Here are [previous stories](https://www.reddit.com/user/rayvoit/posts/) if you want, but they aren’t really necessary to read.
This is the most difficult one I have written. I didn’t know whether to put the last two paragraphs in, or leave them out. Obviously I decided to leave them in.
My wife died around 3 years ago now but I still keep her reminders in my calendar for her. I can’t delete them. They are memories of times gone by. She was hopeless at remembering her friends birthdays so when I found out some I put them in my calendar with a few days notice to remind her to get a card.
A few weeks ago one of these birthdays popped up on my phone. It was Alice’s birthday in 3 days time. Alice was my wife’s best friend. I hadn’t seen Alice since my wife’s funeral and thought I’d just drop her an email saying Happy Birthday.
