I thought I’d share one of my favorite memories from college. I hope you enjoy!

Summer break from college was always a drag. I missed my friends, going out to parties, staying up late, and drinking too much—even sharing my shitty too-tiny dorm room where I slept in a lofted bed.
Despite the joy of spending three months homework-free, I wanted to get back to my life as a 19-year-old exploring my newfound freedom for the first time.
At home, I was bound to early curfews, church services with my deeply religious parents, and absolutely no boys allowed. My parents were always overly strict and hated the idea of me even going on a date, which meant the summer would be long and tedious if I didn’t get creative with breaking the rules.
“What time will you be back?” my mom called from across the living room.
I looked up from tying my running shoes to find her poking her head around the wall of our kitchen. The sound of daytime television created a comfortable hum of noise as she prepared our lunch.
