Alexa and Jacob stood impatiently in the foyer of the mansion, Jacob pacing back and forth awaiting someone, anyone, to greet them.
“Where is everyone? We’ve never waited here like this before.” Alexa tapped her foot against the marble floor as she leaned against the wall with her arms crossed in front of her chest. “It’s always so busy, I wonder why it’s so quiet. Maybe we should just go upstairs and see if anyone is up there.”
Jacob stopped in his tracks and turned towards his wife.
“That’s not a good idea, Alexa.” He shook his head and stepped towards her. “There are things going on in this place that we don’t totally understand. We’ve had some insane experiences and I know I’ve enjoyed them all so far, but, come on, we could wander into something that we can’t handle.”
Alexa sighed and nodded in agreement, smiling at her husband and glancing towards the staircase. Jacob tip-toed across the foyer, peaking around the arched doorway behind the desk. He looked around for anyone who may be able to help them, and as he wandered just a few steps through the doorway, something drew Alexa’s attention to the second floor of the mansion.
