**Background**
Me and my wife are employed at the same fortune 500 company and we’ve been working from home since March. She’s an accountant, and I manage a team of IT and finance people that’s been working on a big software implementation project. Earlier this year, our group was moved under a different VP who has a reputation for being kind of a hard ass. So when my director informed me I’d be giving him a presentation about all the work our group has done I wasn’t exactly thrilled…
I channeled the stress into prepping for the meeting. I did the necessary research, pulled all the data, put together a slick looking power point, double checked my numbers, anticipated what questions I might get, and practiced the presentation with my wife. She knew I was stressed and assured me I’d do great.
The day of the meeting we had about 20 people on the video conference with lots of senior leaders from my business unit. Shortly before it kicks off, I get a Skype message from my wife who’s working downstairs.
“Knock em dead babe, you got this.”
I send her a thumbs up emoji and the meeting kicks off.
