The hill rose gently away from the main stage, far enough away that it wasn’t packed with people, but close enough to be able to see into the crowd. The sunset behind the stage was beautiful, with deep orange and red hues that turned slowly into purple and blue. I could see her dancing in the distance, not too far from the DJ. She danced alone, in groups, with women, and with men. She danced with passion and vigor, just as she had done for the last couple of hours.
I danced too, because what else was I here to do, in this most amazing of venues in Brazil. Peoplewatching was a fantastic alternative, but dancing was the best. It had been over two years since my last EDM festival, and I could tell the crowd was just as excited to be there as I was.
Eventually I made my way back to the hill, and I saw her traipsing up from the other side to meet me. It was our designating meeting spot, and I couldn’t help but appreciate the view.
