I’ve been on holiday for the past few weeks, it’s been a much deserved break, having missed out on my Christmas holidays due to an immense workload. Actually, tell you the truth, that’s the last I’ll mention work for now. I’m on holiday – that’s all that matters.
I like travelling to Asia for my trips. Flights are cheap and living is cheap, and I’m always bound to meet some good characters along the way. I’m far from embracing the backpacker lifestyle – I can afford to shell out, and I love getting really unique accomodation. I find getting nice views and private nooks to be a hell of a conversation starter when talking to people trying to stretch out a budget. I like to reward myself with life’s luxuries.
Doing so is how I met Allison. Allison is someone who does embrace the backpacker lifestyle – she’s a professional type, but has managed a life balance where she can embrace a good eight weeks away each year. We met drunkenly on a beach in the Philippines – I was introducing backpackers to the wickedly potent combination of almond liqueur and whiskey (I bid you try it when you can). Allison cuts a fine figure on the beach. The kinda girl that cycles to work each day, and her idea of fun while she’s ‘home’ is hitting reggaeton classes and the gym. I guess when you spend so much time on the beach, it pays to embrace vanity.
