jodi sat in the corner booth of the diner, nervously brushing her strawberry blonde hair out of her face. she resisted the urge to check her phone again. normally when the 36 year old executive was here after work, she liked to look out of the window at all the people walking out enjoying the beautiful summer evening.
but today she had chosen the corner booth with no window, specifically for some privacy.
‘hi jodi,’ grinned brianna, her regular waitress as she came up to her. every time jodi saw the petite young teenager she was struck by how closely she resembled her daughter josie. the long straight red hair. the pouty lips. the small breasts and slim figure. ‘the usual today?’
‘no, brianna, just a coffee thanks,’ jodi smiled at her. ‘um, two, actually. i’m expecting someone.’
‘oh a date??’ brianna gasped. ‘jodi, who’s the lucky woman?!’ giggled the teenaged redhead as she held the menu to cover her face.
‘you’ll see,’ jodi smiled, her heart hammering in her chest. god when she laughed she looked exactly like josie.
