Ever since my convention meet with an amateur photographer a couple of months back (https://www.reddit.com/r/gonewildstories/comments/7ec8yg/maid_to_pose_in_cosplay_fm/), we’ve continued to speak occasionally online – initially to send me edited versions of the pictures he’d taken, but conversation also turned to whether I’d thought of doing more similar modelling for other interested parties. Although reluctant at first, eventually my curiosity was piqued, and he shared some tips and thoughts as well as pointing me in the direction of people who might be interested.
After a number of chats with photographers that went nowhere, or I simply felt uncomfortable with, eventually I struck up an interesting discussion with a keen semi-pro photographer. In his late 50s, he was very interested in my love of cosplay, and had some really great photos from various other shoots that he’d done. Having hit it off and clearly having similar ideas and desires, we spent some time chatting about what kind of photos he’d be interested in, laying out how a shoot might go and all of the other things that need to be arranged and agreed. There was quite a lot to arrange and do before we were both in a position where we were ready and able to meet, but eventually I ran out of reasons to delay and had to make a decision about whether I wanted to take the plunge. Nervous but excited, I went for it and we agreed a date to meet for a photo shoot.
