I laid in bed and lazily scrolled through the feed that displayed holographically above the entertainment console. As usual, there was nothing interesting. At least, there was nothing I hadn’t seen before over half a dozen times. That was one of the major drawbacks of working on an out-of-galaxy research station.
The display flickered as I waved my hand dismissively and one by one the dancing figures faded from view.
I rolled over to my back and groaned loudly as I stretched to get rid of the tightness in my muscles before turning over on the spot and sighing loudly. The afternoon sunlight streamed through the windows and washed my body. I wished to myself that I could go to sleep and wake up at the end of my deployment.
Then again, I thought to myself, there isn’t much waiting for me back home anyway.
