The cool water felt refreshing on my face. I felt the tension ease. Our corporate offices had one person bathrooms which gave me much needed privacy. I had to think of something else.
The pandemic had the effect that there was a lot of people working from home. There was no mandatory presence at the office. People could choose where they preferred to work from. I preferred the office since it kept work “at work”. When I worked from home, I had a hard time “quitting” for the day. This was also the reason why I had a work phone and personal phone. I dried my face with the disposable paper towels and looked in the mirror.
I looked tired. Maybe I only saw it? My once clear blue eyes seemed to have a tad of grey? Fortunately, my beard and hair still had the same deep hazelnut color and I was happy with the style. I always was a fan of the clean-cut look of the 1950’s. Ivy league haircut with a well-groomed and trimmed beard. My physique had a solid foundation, I worked out regularly before my son. The muscles and frame were there, but I had a minor dad-bod thing going on. “Well, who would want to be or look like a twenty something kid forever, right?” I shook my head, chuckled and threw the paper towel in the trash.
