I have to preface the story by saying this all went down 18 years ago, but it’s still a pretty good story…
We were 22 and had been home from university for our final summer break. I had grown up friends with (my future wife) Sara since childhood and she had been in a long term relationship with my best friend prior to me (small town Canada!). Matt and her had broken up halfway through the school year, so when we started to hook up we were sure to get his blessing. He was cool with it as he had the stress of playing several other girls at the same time on his mind.
Sara and I had been officially a couple for a few short months at the time of the party that night. It was at an old friend of ours parents place where a dozen or so of us had retreated to the basement to play ping pong. It had been a common hangout since our high school days, the parents were cool and the basement had a walk-out so it allowed us to smoke joints and sneak alcohol in.
