Every other job had gone well tonight. That was the joy of targeting college kids, wasn’t it? You could tell when their classes were going to be, or when they had some big event to go to. Hell, breaking in on Thursday or Friday was a solid bet in and of itself. And that’s not to mention some of them having random expensive shit that their parents sent them. Not many, but enough to make this easily worth it.
But not you. I didn’t know why you were home. Maybe you had work you needed to be doing. Maybe you were just staying home and playing games while your roomates went to the game. It doesn’t matter much. All that matters is I could hear you shaking under the bed, bumping into it whenever I made a particularly loud noise. You were afraid for your life, weren’t you? There wasn’t any need for that, I wouldn’t hurt you.
But you had no way of knowing that, did you? No way of defending yourself. You could try and call the police, but it would be hours before they could get here with all the traffic.
