“Ava I am so sorry I got called to work like this, I knew I promised I would make dinner but I have to leave, like right now. Can you please take care of it for me baby?” Mom said, putting on her shoes hastily and checking her bag.
Ava didn’t really like cooking but she usually never said no to mom, unlike her brother Sam who had to beg her for something simple about ten times before she complied.
“Don’t worry mom, I will take care of that. And don’t try to rush back or pick something up on your way home, I will leave your dinner in the microwave.”
“Thanks, sweety,” mom said, kissing her on the cheek, waved to Sam who was sitting on the couch watching TV, and left. Sam saw her walk out, then saw her sister turning and for a moment, compared the two. In a lot of ways, his mom and sister were the same. They were both confident extroverts, caring, and responsible, and they both thought he was a lazy layabout.
