The library used to be a place of comfort and relaxation for Sarah. At first it was more stressful, only starting to go so she could study without listening to her roommate having sex or listening to loud music. Overtime she adjusted to the seats, found favored spots, and even started going at better times to avoid crowds. The mastery of her positioning and time management gave her some pride, and she enjoyed the sense of control she had.
This was before something changed in the school. Nowadays, there’s always odd rules getting added or changed, especially in regards to the female students. She thought it was odd that they could give specific instructions about apparel and demeanor, but it was a higher end school with an image to maintain. The main one that annoyed her was the ban on headphones indoors. She loved listening to private music while studying in the library, and the music playing in there always just sounded like white noise to her, even if they said it had some subliminal focus techniques or whatever. Today was the day she’d decided to rebel a little, calling back to that skill set she learned when she first started going.
