I’ve been travelling a lot for work recently to a major city. Like most things, it a novelty at first. Hotel rooms, restaurant and planes are all very exciting at first (especially when you aren’t paying!) but it wears thin after a while and you long for the comforts of home. That said, there is one particular aspect of travelling that I love. The hotels.
I opt for a particular type of hotel when staying away for work. First and foremost, it must be close to where I need to be (obviously) but I don’t pick the most luxurious or expensive places like some of my colleagues do. I prefer the mid range places. Not the seedy, dank, no-tell-motel sorts of places but a step above that. I like these places for a reason. They generally have thin walls, and often play host to young couples exploring a new city together. Those two factors (and that there is usually a hotel bar too) have led to some interesting nights…
