Jake broke up with his girlfriend a month earlier and spent the first month of singledom improving himself. He got new clothes, spent more time in the gym than he had in a while, and got a stylish new haircut. Look good, feel good, right?
Stopping by the liquor store on the way home from work, he picked up a six pack and headed home. On his way out, a beautiful girl came in and commented on his choice of beer.
“Nice! Good taste,” she said.
He smiled and exited the liquor store before stopping short. This woman was beautiful. He felt compelled to turn around and ask her out.
“Why don’t you join me for one?” He shouted into the store as she browsed the beer fridge.
“When? Like right now?” She asked.
“Yeah … sure,” Jake said.
“Uh … okay,” she said, exiting the store.
“Jake,” he said, extending his hand.
“Carlie,” she said.
They walked back to his place.
“Nice place,” she said. “You just move in?”
“Yeah, a month ago. Sorry about the boxes.”
She laughed and kicked her shoes off and plopped down on his sofa.
