Jessica moved into a new apartment three weeks ago and was counting down the days until she was ready to host her very first party. The painters painted, the electrician rewired and hung a new chandelier. The furniture was delivered. And the groceries were purchased. Including maybe a few too many bottles of champagne.
The night of the party, Jessica invited 12 friends over. Eight were coupled off or married. The other four were single—including two men and two women, with whom she hoped to introduce, leaving Jessica as Lucky No. 13.
Jessica prepared an amazing meal, inspired by a Gordon Ramsay video she’d seen on YouTube and promptly at 7pm, the guests started to arrive.
After a while, the place was packed with all of her friends. They were laughing, drinking, eating, and drinking some more. Of course, everyone brought a bottle of booze. One guest even brought some celebratory joints, which were lit and smoked.
Not long into the evening, everyone was baked and drunk and mellow and flirty. The four single friends were introduced. A married couple sat in the corner, making out. The playlist had changed to an after dinner playlist—quiet, jazzy, sexy. No one seemed to mind that Frank and Melanie were making out in the corner. And honestly, it inspired some other couples to do the same.
