I know what you’re thinking right off the bat, it probably wasn’t the best idea, but I’ll just tell the whole story and then you can decide if I was an idiot or not.
I’ve had a few successes on Craigslist before, so I’ll browse it from time to time just to see what’s out there. I think I sent out maybe 10 messages that night, and the one I got a response to I honestly thought was spam at first. I don’t remember it exactly, but it was only a couple of sentences and said something like “Let’s start 2017 on a high note. Oh, and I don’t have a gag reflex :)”. Her ad said she was 24 and was tall, not a huge amount of info. I was 33 at the time.
Usually anything that short and overt has to be spam, but I have a throwaway email I use for this, so who cares, I figure. Within maybe 2 minutes of sending it, I get another message saying “here’s my number, text me before someone reports my ad as spam and it gets taken down”. This still sounds like what a spammer would say, but I’m pretty suggestible at this point, so I figure “fuck it, why not”. I send her a text, and she answers immediately. We chat a bit, which is further than I suspect a spammer would take things, and I ask her to send me some pictures, and she does.
