I was in college, second year of a new program by now, still not sure I was in the right program. I chose to play for our college women’s basketball team and I’m not totally sure why. I played volleyball in high school and loved it, but had never really played basketball, except a few times in phys ed. I was a decent volleyball player, but not particularly tall, nor athletic.
I think I decided I needed to open up more in my second year there. Meet new people, experience new things. Surprisingly, I was taken after the tryouts and ended up being part of the team. I couldn’t do free throws very well, I was probably the worst of the team, but I can dribble ok and run just fine (had been doing endurance running for a little bit). To be completely honest, it wasn’t like the biggest college and our team wasn’t exactly feared or renowned, but I loved it anyway. I was not particularly big on traveling around too much, so I wasn’t totally sure about it, but I have to say I don’t regret it. I did get injured shortly after Christmas however and decided to quit the team afterwards, but for the time it lasted, it was good.
