I was camping at the Chain O’ Lakes state park and had been there
for a few days already, just enjoying the peace and quiet and solitude the place affords one.
That afternoon I was fishing at Turner lake not really caring whether or not I caught any fish.
(I have learned over the years that fishing has nothing to do with actually catching fish.
It’s the mindset that one falls into while fishing.)
At first I was alone on the floating pier that went out about thirty feet and branched off into a “T” shape at it’s end.
As I sat there two young ladies walked out to the end where I was and sat down to sun themselves.
After a short time we struck up a conversation, about our experiences camping at the park. They told me that they were students at Northwestern University and had come up camping to get some rest from school and “blow off some steam”.
They were both on the schools swim team and had been under grueling pressure while competing on their team.
