Back in about 1969, when I was 14 or 15, I found two pornographic novels in my father’s car, which I promptly stole. One of them was the “autobiography” of a 19th Century Canadian nun named Maria Monk. In it she details stories of secret convent orgies with priests,nuns giving birth to children who were then baptized and murdered, and lots of other salacious stuff. The funny thing is that there is a REAL book like this that was published in the 1830s that describes some of the same kind of incidents but with no porno styling. Many scholars think it was made-up anti-Catholic propaganda, but that’s not the point. I’ve seen this “real” book, and it is not what I found in Dad’s car. The one I had was pure porn. It was written in a more “realistic” style than your typical “quivering quim” and “raging member” kind of hyper-metaphorical porno fiction, but it was definitely porn. A couple of details I clearly remember are that the author frequently referred to the female genitals as a “cunny.” She also described an episode outside the convent when she served as a schoolteacher and often kept kids after class to instruct them in various perversions. Neither of these details appear in the real book. I’ve searched for this many times over the years, but my unsuccessful efforts are always complicated by the continuing interest in the real book, which you can find in digital form all over the place. If anyone knows what I’m talking about, I’d love to hear about it, and if anyone can point me to a copy of the text I read I would truly love to have it again.
