I heard the click as the door latched and looked up. I could only see part of the entry from my seat, so when you stepped around the corner, I jumped! I gave a nervous laugh as you stopped in the door frame, looking at me intently. ‘You scared me’ I say to break the ice, watching you walk slowly into the room. I’d been up her for almost two hours now, trying to catch up on studies I’d neglected for far too long. You glanced at the computer screen before me and without a flicker of recognition that I’d spoken, pointed amd said ‘C’, before taking a seat in the row in front of me. You swung the small chair easily and sat facing me, arms crossed across the back. ‘The answer is C’ you repeated. ‘I’ve just finished that one yesterday’, you offered as an explanation. I looked at the screen and moved the mouse to click C’, his presence making my heart race and hands tremble. I prayed he didn’t notice! The quiz master approved my answer and a quick “correct!” lit the screen, accompanied by low cheering, before the next question popped up in its place. As it did, you swung your chair around with a mighty push of your long legs so as you were suddenly almost beside me, your arm mere inches from mine. You scanned the next question and laughed, saying how this one had caught you out twice! I stared at you, not really believing you were sitting here with me, not really understanding what you were saying. Instead, I just nodded when you looked at me. I must have looked the fool. You said something else and again I nodded, smiling when you did. You reached over the keyboard and placed your hand over mine on the mouse, your hand completely covering mine. My heart stopped. You guided my hand as you clicked on the next answer, chuckling as you did so. “Correct” and the cheers followed. I looked at you, afraid to meet you eyes, but drawn to you like a moth to flame. Our eyes held. ‘You must have a good memory then? I stuttered, Mine is abysmal!’ I tried to laugh but only a croak came out. I looked back at the screen, mind aflutter, unable to even read the next question. Luckily, you went easy on me and took over where my brain left off, deftly clicking thru the questions and answers without pause. When the quiz congratulated me on my amazing score, I again looked at you, not sure what to say. You leant in and kissed me! My heart not only stopped again, but it dropped into my stomach!! I reacted immediately and began to kiss you back before suddenly realising anyone could walk in here any second! I pulled away, my breath still caught, by body trembling, my lips tingling and head floating! I was stunned! Good God! You did that with one small kiss! I knew I was in trouble. I glanced at the door then the large open glass windows along the far wall, before you grabbed my face, holding me firmly, you pull me in and kiss me again. I melt easily. I’ve wanted you for a year or more! We’ve played games for two years at least. Work frowns on work relationships. I frown on them! They can get messy. Ugly. Problematic. I open my mouth and feel your tongue explore mine. My hands have been resting beside me till now. I lift them to your shoulders. I haven’t kissed anyone in a long time and I wasn’t sure what to do with my hands! I rest them on your broad shoulders before the heat of your skin thru your shirt is too much and I had to feel you! Palms flat, I slowly felt across your shoulders to your arms, firm and soft, you shiver as I slowly take in how good you feel under my hands at last. I want to pull your shirt off right here and now, I want to feel you against me! I also knew we had to stop! Sliding my hands back up and around your neck, I held on just that minute longer, not wanting this to end. Read more »
