Was kinda nervous about sharing this but I’ve decided fuck it I’m gonna let it out. Not long before the pandemic I was a bridesmaid at my brother’s wedding, and for a typical wedding here in the UK the bridesmaids dance with the groomsmen during the first dance.
The groomsmen I was to dance with was one of my brother’s best friends who I’ve known since we were all kids, though he’s like 6/7 years older than me. For the sake of the story I’ll just call him “my groomsman”. I was always a quiet kid growing up so I’ve barely ever spoken to this guy and was so nervous about having to dance with him in front of everyone.
Before the ceremony began we were all sitting in the lounge area as guests arrived, when ‘my groomsman’ comes over and sits with me. We’re just chatting away, about how it’s crazy we all knew each other as kids and now we’re all grown up, getting married etc. He asks me if I’ll be dancing with him later tonight! My heart sank as I was trying to put my mind off it til I had to. I joked around that I’m a terrible dancer and wished we didn’t have to do it, then he suggested we could go to up to his room and ‘practice’ a slow dance!! I was completely taken by surprise, I wasn’t sure if he genuinely wanted to practice a dance or if he had something else in mind. The more I thought about it, the more I realised didn’t care what he meant.
