This took place three years ago when I felt an extremely sharp pain on the right side of my abdomen. This excruciating pain went from sharp to a constant pressure that was unbearable every time I tried to talk, walk, or even cough. I thought to myself, “is this really the end of me?”
Turns out I had appendicitis with a possibility to have a surgery if the pain persists. I was placed on no drinking and no eating protocol but the pain was still present. Long story short, I ended up getting a laparoscopic appendectomy. I was one of the last cases so I didn’t finish the procedure until 1 am.
Dazed from the anesthesia, I opened my eyes to nurses exchanging information about me and asking a million questions when I barely even knew where I was at that moment. I had an iv, oxygen and a Foley Cather in me, so I was in no shape to feel attractive. When I came to my senses, I noticed my nurse was a very tall, cute asian man with short hair, nerdy glasses, tattoos, and muscles that almost tore his scrubs open. We will call him, Anthony. Anthony was extremely professional, thorough with his explanations, and hilarious to the point where I had to make him stop talking so it wouldn’t hurt when I laughed.
