I am still considering whether to continue this story, but I wanted to post one more installment before I made my final decision. I welcome your feedback, and read all comments, even if I haven’t the time to respond to all of them.
Thanks for reading.
Clementina
Part II
I looked down at my leg. The rake had scraped across the skin, thankfully leaving just deep scratches and nothing more, though there was some initial signs of swelling from the impact. I swore.
I scrambled through the crawlspace and cut off the main water supply, then surveyed the damage.
The pipe had bent and ruptured, dumping a ton of water through the crawlspace and the entrance chamber to the cellar. The sump pump was running and the water level was already dropping. No real damage had been done besides the rupture.
I was going to need about six feet of pipe to make the repair. While I had enough stashed in Clementina’s cellar for basic repairs, there was not enough to fix this mess. This was going to have to wait until I could go to the store in the morning. Clementina would be without water service until then.
