(EDIT): Longish story!
I’ve been lifeguarding for about 3 years now, just getting my recertification recently. The job is simple enough, sit and watch people swim, make sure no one dies. The first couple of days at a new pool or when you first start guarding can be a bit nerve wracking, you’re always anticipating something bad to happen. Eventually you kind of learn who the strong and weak swimmers are and it turns to you just daydreaming and half guarding, not paying too much attention to what’s going on (at least for me, but maybe I’m just a bad guard). I have to confess, part of that daydreaming is looking at the features of women guests, basically what most people already do but on the stand and getting paid for it.
