4 years after my divorce I was working in the U.S. for a large company that was headquartered in the Netherlands, about 70 minutes outside of Amsterdam via two train rides.
I had to go to the corporate headquarters several times for training. I went for 2 weeks in March, for 1 week in June and then again in August for 2 weeks. This was back in 2010.
Like many large companies in Europe, there were many different nationalities of people working in the corporate office there in the Netherlands, just a few of which were Chinese, French, German, and Middle Eastern and even someone from Northern Africa.
On my first trip to the corporate office in March, ties took me out for dinner on Tuesday night and they had a few of their friends, not from the company, join us.
One of their friends was a lady named Tereza and she was originally from the Czech Republic but she was living and working in Amsterdam then. Tereza was friends with both of the Chinese ladies that worked for the same company I did. Tereza and I hit it off with each other right away there that night at dinner, which went on for almost two hours and was followed by walking around and going in and out of other establishments.
