This happened one time I stayed in a hotel near the airport after my connecting train journey was cancelled. It was especially cold that day so I wasn’t about to spend hours waiting for the next train on the platform, and an overnight stay at the airport hotel wasn’t too expensive.
I had been eating well when I was on holiday and it had been considerably warmer where I’d been. I am shaved and at the time I was feeling especially soft and smooth owing to all the swimming in the sea and exercise. Back in the UK, it was duller and rainy, so I didn’t even feel up to going out and exploring the local area.
Not really knowing what to do with myself, I made myself up and got ready to go to the hotel bar on the off chance I might meet some people to chat with before going off to bed. I’d gotten used to the company while I was away and it was weird being in a place where I was so on my own and people were keeping to themselves.
