You remember that first day of classes in college when you walk into the auditorium or classroom and look for (a) someone you know, or (b) someone that look smart, and if you’re lucky, they look good too? Well, I locked in on Penny in my history class. Penny was a really cute petite brunette, and sported a pair of glasses, that for some reason drove me crazy.
I walked up to her row, and asked if the seat was open, which upon she immediately responded “sure, but only if you’re a history major”, followed by the cutest smile I have ever seen. I told her I wasn’t, but I told her I had never gotten anything below a ’B’ in any history class before, which was a lie, but it worked and I got to sit next to Penny that semester.
Fast forward to a month and a half into the semester. Me and Penny had been talking mostly before class, had lunch a couple of times and the occasional Facebook chat about school work, that led to the normal off-topic stuff before it dies down. We had a flirty tone, but I had a really hard time reading her. One of my weaknesses as a human, is that I tend to never take the first step until I’m fairly certain that the other person is somewhat interested in me, especially when they are people in my life I don’t want to have an awkward thing with after.
