I did the whole college thing, did my share of slutty things I might talk about some other time, graduated and got a good job. My grandparents left me a little money, so I bought a house. I do pretty well for my age. I broke up with my boyfriend a few months before COVID. We’d been together since college, then he cheated on me with a friend at a party. Seriously, a fucking party. I wasn’t even mad, I was relieved. I wish it hadn’t been right before a pandemic, but c’est la vie. I’m a young, successful, attractive woman, I have plenty of time and options.
My neighbor is a disabled widower. He uses one of those power chairs, but can stand up and walk short distances with a cane. His kids are grown and live on the other side of the country. He works from home and does pretty well, but was pretty isolated during COVID, so I made it a point to interact with him. I was pretty lonely, too, and I left the house regularly. I couldn’t imagine how it was for him, being pretty much stuck at home. I’d cook for two, and bring him half. I’d pick up some beer and drop a few by his house. We celebrated a few holidays together while social distancing in our back yards. He’s the nicest guy ever, has a great sense of humor, and has lived a really interesting life. He’s also good looking and is pretty fit for being disabled.
