“What? Are you out of your mind?” She shouted.
“I was. For the past 3 years” I replied calmly.
3 years ago, I had started my CA articleship in a mid sized Chartered Accountancy firm. I had met Raashi there, who was a year senior to me. I liked her instantly and as we started working together I fell totally for her. She had finally agreed to go out with me and we started dating. It was a turbulent relationship with her finding reasons every now and then to break up.
When we broke up for the last time in the mid of 2016, I was heartbroken and devastated. Her reason was she found her best friend more “suitable” to love. Apparently she thought that it was easier to get her parents to agree to a love marriage as they knew him from childhood. I learned later that she left him as well. Great.
I realised too late that she was a bitch who just needed attention and money. I don’t care about the money I shelled out on her but my time? 3 years is too long to be hung over one person. So break up was actually the best thing to happen to me in that toxic relationship.
