For this story I should give a little back story. It takes place when I was working at a luxury hotel, one of the top in my country in-fact. We’d just undergone extensive auditing to be accredited by an international organisation to verify our star rating. This brought in a lot of new clientele internationally, even on weekdays when the hotel was usually dead to the world. At this hotel I worked as a bellboy sort of role. I’d valet vehicles, move luggage and also solve some minor technical issues the guests had.
It started on a Tuesday, a usually very quiet day which tends to be occupied by local guests and not so much anything particularly interesting. When it’s quiet, usually my team stands at strategic places around the lobby to greet guests, help them with heavy luggage or generally try to anticipate any of their needs that may arise.
