**BACKGROUND**:
Just having completed my graduate research program, I was ready to enjoy my summer vacation until classes resumed. With my brother about to join me at graduate school as well, my parents decided to treat us to a vacation. The destination… Hawaii.
Arriving on the island, one of the first things I did was check my tinder profile. Swiping through, I came across a beautiful woman (We’ll call her Amy) in her early 20s. She had, dirty blonde hair that curled at the ends as well as deep blue, tired looking eyes that were absolutely seductive. Coupled with images of her in her underwear, reveling an outstanding body and a bio that mentioned that she was looking to hook up, I quickly swiped right. It all honestly seemed too good to be true.
Glancing at my phone moments later, I saw a message that said, “Hey cutie, what are you up to?” It was Amy. Still in disbelief, I entertained the conversation. “There was no way she could be real,” I thought. “Surely she must be someone who probably sets up tourists to get robbed or something.” Days of continued conversation and an eventual transition to Snap Chat, I enlisted the help of a good friend of mine and we soon discovered that she was the real deal. A missed potential meetup (that I’m still kicking myself about) and a day later, Amy and I had finally worked something out.
