It was a winter a few years ago. I had been dating Fiona for a few months, and things were still in a pretty nice honeymoon phase. We were regulars at a bar and pegged each other as fellow sci-fi/fantasy nerds who liked to read books over a pint; and we had instantly clicked. Our ‘first date’ went straight to her inviting me home from the bar and us fucking throughout the night and then me calling in sick to work so that I could keep fucking her throughout the morning. She was pretty hot — short dark hair, gorgeous emerald eyes, slim and fit with a nice sexy midriff, and lovely, natural breasts. Since some of you guys immediately hear Fiona and think Shrek, I’ll help you out and suggest that she looked like a more jock-ish Winona Ryder (circa Reality Bites when she kept her hair in a pixie cut). Beyond her looks, I liked the fact that Fiona was down to earth, and had confidence. She knew that she was pretty, but didn’t let that turn her into being stuck-up. She had an outdoorsy streak as a rock climber and hiker, and worked shifts at a camping store so that also gave her a sort of “one of the guys” vibe in hanging out with men. [MF] Fiona, Part One [exhibition]

So, sequel to my last story. After my relationship with Chelsea finally, definitively brokeup, I had a one night stand with my friend, Alexis, who was married to my friend Brian. Then I went on a hardcore celibacy phase just to focus on myself. It was paying off in that I was working out more, getting ahead in my career, and building confidence. I was sharing an apartment with a roommate at the time. His name was Derek, and we got along fine, but sometimes I just needed to get out and have my own space, especially when his girlfriend, Elise was over. There was this local bar in my neighborhood, the Blue Star, that had good beer, chill clientele, and no TVs. It was a great place to kill an afternoon with just reading. Read more »

I first met Alexis when she started dating my friend, Brian. Brian was an alum who DJ’ed at the college radio station where I got to be a rookie DJ. The station had a small number of slots for alums who just liked to hang out and play records on air, and Brian was one of them. He was a bit of a music guru to me, kind of taking me under his wing and showing me how to be cool and less nerdy at rock shows. I stopped DJing after I graduated, but Brian and I kept up our friendship. He met Alexis in ‘the scene’. She was also a little older than me, but not by much; and she had this quiet intensity about her. Like, she didn’t talk a lot, especially around Brian because Brian couldn’t stop talking, but you could tell that she was paying attention to everything that was going, and she had a way of making a conversation record scratch by saying something that tied whatever we were talking about to something someone said ten minutes ago.
