“Hey watch it!” A man pushed past my shoulders, as I stood lost in the streets of New York City. I had just moved here from a small town in Iowa, a big difference from the loud streets in NYC.
A rain drop hit my forehead and I looked up to see rain clouds rolling in. Another drop fell and then another. I sighed in frustration and moved closer to the building to shield myself from the rain. My phone GPS said I was still a 30 minute walk to my apartment.
Rather than walking miserable in the rain all the way back, I decided I would try to flag down a cab. I had watched countless people call cabs and get in, how hard could it be?
I stepped up to the curb of the street and saw a cab coming my way. I tried to whistle and put my hand up to get their attention. Instead of stopping like I expected, the cab sped past, splashing a huge puddle all over me.
