I have been best friends with Tom since we were teenagers, we started together in the Bank back in the late 90’s and we have had some adventures over the last 25 years. He moved down to Manchester a few years ago to marry his current wife and we make a point of meeting up every few months in Edinburgh to catch up and have a good night out together.
We arranged for him to come visit a few weeks ago and on the Friday on our Sales call, Carol asked what I was up to, I told her that Tom was coming up and that we were going for a night on the town, she told me that it sounded a lot of fun and to have a good weekend.
We started our day out on the Royal Mile, a street full of decent pubs and people having a good time, the whiskey was flowing and we were having a good laugh, reminiscing about being boys and the capers we got up to, then my phone pinged with a message, it was Carol asking how it was going, she was sat at home with David and she was bored, I sent a selfie of me and Tom to her and told her she should come and meet us, she asked us what bar we were in and I said that we were just about to go in to the Mitre, she made her excuses to her hubby and told us she would be with us in half an hour.
