The sun was bearing down on the poolside tile, and Casey sat in a reclining pool chair as he sipped from the amber liquid in his glass. His wife, Jenn, laid next to him, sunbathing in her string bikini. The air was hot, and Casey had been glad to lounge by the pool for a while in peace since his wife’s friend had somewhat invaded their home for the weekend.
“So Scarlet is definitely getting some work done inside right? It’s not that I don’t like having her around, it’s just that it feels like we haven’t had much privacy or time alone since she’s been here.” Casey asked, hoping his wife wouldn’t take his comment the wrong way.
“Yeah, don’t worry, she’s inside doing some writing. We have the afternoon together alone out here until dinner time. It’s not so bad having her here right? I mean she’s really fun! She’s such a spontaneous, free spirit.” Jenn kept her eyes closed, covered by sunglasses, as she allowed the sun to bronze her skin.
“Really? Spontaneous how?” Casey inquired, sipping again at the beer that was slowly warming under the summer heat.
