Scout Leader appreciation ideas.
Names changed, but you need to know the characters to appreciate the story.
Ben – One of my cub scouts, he was with me from first grade until fourth grade. Ben was very intelligent but also had ADHD. He could be a bit of a handful especially with his impulse control issues. In the 4 years I had Ben, I only met his mom once. His mom was in her late 20’s, divorced, and catching up on all the partying she missed when she became pregnant with Ben shortly after High School. Ben participated in scouts with his Grandmother and step Grandfather. The fact that his mom was reliving her second childhood is probably why Ben could be a little unruly, and probably the reason he spent as much time as he did with his grandparents. One thing I learned about kids from my Scout Leader days is that many times, the reason the kid seems shitty is because the parents are shitty. The kid is just adapting to life the best they can from having shitty parents and an unstructured home life.
