For three weeks, I kept asking if I could get out. Of course, Richard always listened to me, he never showed that he did not want to pull out.
After that time, however, something unusual happened. I was waiting in line at the market like I do every day in the afternoon when I spotted Daniel. He was in front of me, surrounded by people, holding a net full of fruits and vegetables. Soon enough, he recognized me, smiled, and waited for me outside the shop when he was done shopping.
A decade has passed; how are you feeling? Actually, I can’t remember ever seeing you.
New tattoos on his arm caught my eye right away. To my knowledge, he didn’t always have a dragon on his back. The fact that he was sporting a military hedgehog haircut was also significant. Even so, the face and smile were unmistakably the same.
While we were chatting on the way to his car about our respective jobs, educations, and significant others, he suggested I drop by his place for coffee. Since Richard was working second shift, I reasoned that I still had plenty of time to prepare dinner before his arrival that evening.
