During freshman year of college, I met this girl during one of the freshman orientation events. I didn’t think she was particularly attractive, but we exchanged numbers and texted some. We hung out a little here and there during the first semester, but it was becoming clear she was sort of jealous and protective of her time with me, and she used to get upset at other girls and friends that I spent time with.
As time went on, I noticed this more and more, but did not care enough to mention anything, but she was becoming increasingly worse and more protective and jealous. Eventually we went our separate ways for a little, with the occasional ominous text from her once a week or so about missing me.
Then one day, around my birthday, we started texting again, and she said she missed me and wanted to come over and give me a birthday present. It felt sort of predictable, and I did not want to let her toxic attitude back into my life, but my little head won over and I invited her over.
