I have lurked on this sub-reddit for a while. I have wanted to share this story for a while but I always thought that neither my experience nor my writing is up to par. However, I have finally gathered enough courage to share. Here we go:
The summer after my freshmen year at college, I was chosen to be a Summer Resident Advisor (RA) for the new batch of freshmen students who were taking few classes before their fall quarter. I was their RA for six weeks of summer session and it was their first time being away from home on the college campus.
RA’s get assigned a budget to buy food and various supplies to have events during summer. I bought cake and ice-cream for the first meeting. At the meeting, we played some ice-breakers, I explained the house rules and then I brought out the cake and ice-cream. Since a lot of residents came up to me to ask questions, I could not keep an eye on the food. Most other residents grabbed all the food and almost finished everything by the time I was done answering those questions. However, I noticed that two girls stayed after and helped cleaned up the mess left behind. It was my first time meeting Alex!
