This happened two weeks ago, and my mind is still blown.
I had made plans to visit a family member who lives in Puerto Rico. The thing is I was flying standby — meaning that if seats were open on the flight, I could get on, if not, I’d be stuck at the airport. I checked the night before my scheduled flight to PR and saw that the flight was full, so I wouldn’t be going to PR. I had already taken days off work for my trip, so I figured I might as go somewhere else. Since my tickets were standby, I could fly anywhere that this particular airline flew, so long as I could get on a flight. I checked Costa Rica, but it’s the rainy season down there. Then I checked the weather in Cabo San Lucas — bam…. Perfect weather and open seats on the flights the next day. Less than 24 hours after booking my ticket, I was on a plane going to Cabo.
I stayed at an Airbnb with a local guy and we hit it off immediately. We spent the first few days hanging out at his place and exploring the area. The first few nights we were in bed pretty early. Then one night we decided to go and check out some nightlife.
