The Seattle dating scene is pretty mediocre. The “Seattle freeze” is definitely not confined to just friendships. I’ve been quite burned out from a lot of less than successful dates. One of my New Year’s resolutions was to take a pause from actual dating and just have some casual fun for a bit. I’ve found hooking up with people visiting is just what I’m looking for.
I pretty indiscriminately “heart” people on Happn (a dating app vaguely like Tinder but based on crossing paths) as long as their first photo looks passable. I matched up with an 18 year old who said she was here from middle of nowhere Arizona. Apparently she came to Seattle hoping to start over, but that wasn’t working out, and she was going to head back soon.
A few messages back and forth and I suggested we get coffee together (I know, stereotypical Seattle) and walk through a nice park nearby. She was game. Day of we did exactly that. Being Seattle it was of course raining outside. I can only guess she packed completely wrong for Seattle because she had nothing remotely water resistant on or with her. Nonetheless she was down for walking through the park.
