One of my degree requirements was a physics credit, I knew it was going to be a struggle so I put it off for as long as I could. It didn’t take long into the course before I was lost, math is not my strong point, and college level physics is mostly math. There was a guy in the class I knew from other courses, I always thought he might have a little crush on me, so now was a good time to make friends. I made a point of talking to Stan after class, I confessed that I was in the woods, he jumped in right away, said if I had time for a cup of coffee he would see what my problem was.
Stan understood right away, “the math isn’t your problem, you’re not applying it correctly”, or something like that. He spent about an hour with me, it was a huge help, and he gave me his number in case I had any other questions. Stan was cute in a geeky way, but I had a BF who was in school 250 miles away.
