Catching the sunset from the riverside apartment was always a treat for Emily. Pouring herself a drink, she watched the final rays of daylight tease the water’s surface. She caught herself imagining what it would feel like to be teased like that.
A cool breeze swept across her neck and she snapped back to the present. Emily rustled her hair and took a sip of her Prosecco, she noticed the chill against her lips before the prosecco worked its way across her tongue dissolving into a sweetness.
The reflection of candle light in the window forced Emily’s eye’s to refocus. She could smell his aftershave before they locked eyes in the reflection. Sam was a corporate type, ran his own venture capital firm in the city but always made a point of hitting the gym on his way home. He felt better for it and liked the way Emily looked at him when he walked out the shower each night.
This time though, he stopped short of switching the towel for his usual evening gear and joined Emily by the window. Emily knew he helped himself to a drink – she could feel the cold glass of his champagne flute against her neck. She liked it, but didn’t let on, and subtly shifted her weight towards Sam’s chest.
