This is a long story and has buildup but I put ********* where the fucking happens.
PART ONE
This was my first time away from home in years. I was going to my first conference in California, where I would present my research and get to be around other nerds doing the same thing. So when I saw him standing there, I kind of lost my shit.
I met Josh in high school. He was the kind of guy who didn’t really give a damn about grades or college. Everything about our shitty school bored him. He was also pretty introverted while I’m a bit more extroverted. I’m loud and I like to be the center of attention, so, while we were good friends, we always seemed inherently incompatible. He got into college and went away while I went to a university in our city. We drifted and never talked again.
Josh was now standing in front of me, looking confused. He was still about 6 feet tall, but had a medium build now. His green, hooded eyes were open in surprise, jaw was sharper, his hands looked bigger, his hair looked darker and was neatly parted to the side, his smile looked wider. He was tan and kind of glowed. Eventually we both laughed and he moved to hug me. He smelled nice and looked great in his dark suit.
