It was my 23rd birthday. A few days prior I ran into Michelle at the Walgreens by my grandparents house. Michelle had straight light brown hair that came right passed her shoulder blades in the rare even that she didn’t have it pulled back into a simple pony tail. She had dark brown eyes and aggravatingly clear skin. She was a Senior when I was a Sophomore in high school and I’m surprised that she even gave me the time of day back then.
As she’s ringing me up I mention to her that my birthday is coming up. She asks if I’m still at the same place and I tell her I am. She smiles at me and says “Cool, so I can stop by and bring you a birthday present then.” Me, geeking internally, was held back by what I remember as a smirk, but was probably closer to full on cheesing.
She was always so smooth and well composed. Funny as hell. And she was so gorgeous in that girl next door sort of way. Authentic. Effortless. Charismatic. I could go on for days.
