After my perfect afternoon, I had to get back to my hotel and rest. Nils had asked me to stay while he had to work, but I’d chosen to rest and catch up with my friend, Cora.
She was already waiting for me at the hotel, looking worried, she jumped at me as soon as I open the door.

“I need to show you something.” Cora said apprehensively.

She sat by my bed and opened her tablet. Her Instagram pops up and she scrolled down and tapped a few more times, leaving me more anxious by the second.

“In my defense, I was not stalking. I just needed to know more about Jonas and Nils. You know… since we’re spending all our vacation time with them, I had to make sure they were not murderers or something.”

“I’m tired, Cora… you’re blabbing… what are you talking about?”

The Viking and the Mermaid (MF) Long

Last year I went to Norway, traveling with my best friend Cora. We made plans to stay for a full week, I had my heart set on witnessing the dancing lights and so did she.

We went north of Norway, a small and quiet town. Lots of young people there because of the university and tourists, like myself, searching for the Northern Lights. After settling in the hotel, and confirming our schedule, we walked through the town and I was able to see what living in a Victoria’s Secret catalog would look like. Every woman there was exquisite; a tall, slender, perfect combination of tan skin and blonde hair. I felt completely self-conscious.

Don’t get me wrong, I do think I’m pretty. I have long, wavy brown hair, foxy light brown eyes, fair skin with rosy cheeks, and an hourglass figure. I workout, but no matter how hard I try, I will never have legs for days like the ladies I saw walking the streets of Norway.
