Kylie thought longingly about the TA of her Bio class, trying not to stare as she imagined kissing them. She had come out as a lesbian in high school and dated women exclusively. All of that wouldn’t have been a problem, except that her Bio TA’s name was Ben, and he was definitely not a woman.
Ben was unlike anyone she’d ever met, male or female. He was incredibly smart, kind, funny, and they had so much in common it was unreal. They were even close in age, barely a year apart, due to Kylie only recently returning to college after taking a few years off.
During the first week of school, they’d gotten along so well that she’d exchanged phone numbers with him and promised not to care what grades he gave her on her work if he’d allow them to hang out sometimes socially.
The only problem was, Ben was completely aware that Kylie was a lesbian, and totally unaware of her growing crush on him. She worried telling him would ruin their budding friendship, and that he’d somehow think less of her, as if she’d misrepresented herself.
